Sakis Asteriadis

Chief Executive Officer


Sakis Asteriadis is CSA's Chief Executive Officer. He has over 25 years of experience, with pioneering work in the environmental and power markets, and with in-depth expertise in the areas of renewable energy & low-emission project finance and the trading of renewable energy credits (REC) and emission credits.

Mr. Asteriadis has held executive positions with leading companies in the environmental and energy space: He is Managing Partner at EcoPoint Capital, an environmental asset management firm developing and managing funds investing in renewable energy and low-emission projects worldwide. He was previously the Global Head of Environmental Markets at a financial brokerage firm where he created and managed the company's environmental brokerage business. From 2004 to 2008, he was Managing Director and Head of Environmental Markets at APX, where he was instrumental in creating the company's environmental markets division and establishing APX as a leading market provider. From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Asteriadis was Vice President at the Bank of New York and head of the BondNet division and the EnergyClear clearinghouse for OTC energy derivatives. From 1985, he was with ESCA Corp (currently Areva T&D) where he led the deployment of numerous major power market systems worldwide, and helped develop power trading desks for major utilities and energy trading entities. Mr. Asteriadis holds an M.Sc.E degree from Purdue University and is located in New York City.

Alex Hernandez

Managing Partner, MBA


Alex Hernandez serves as a Managing Partner at CSA providing carbon management and sustainability services to U.S. Federal, State, and Local governmental entities. Mr. Hernandez has performed environmental services for federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Energy - National Renewable Energy Lab, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Services. Mr. Hernandez has also advised a wide ranging list of commercial clients on their carbon footprints and has extensive experience in the commercialization of emission credits from landfill gas, forestry, and energy efficiency projects. He previously held posts at both Blanchard & Company and Citigroup. At Citigroup, Mr. Hernandez worked in alternative investments where he managed hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and structured products sold in the U.S. and Latin America. Mr. Hernandez was also a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps specializing in logistics operations, where has also served collateral duties as a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Officer.

Mr. Hernandez holds an MBA and a B.A. Cum Laude, both in Management and Finance from Tulane University.

Nick Loeb

Managing Partner


Nick Loeb serves as a Managing Partner at CSA providing climate change engineering and advisory services to corporate and government clients. Previously he was a banker for Lehman Brothers, Inc. and President of Loeb Investments, a private investment company. At Loeb Investments he partnered with HGC Capital, an environmental remediation firm to create emission credits though methane capture of landfills in alignment with the UN's Clean Development Mechanism. Mr. Loeb has spoken as a faculty member at the Practicing Law Institute on the topic of "Establishing and Enforcing Corporate Green Technology Policies" and has spoken at the South Florida Green, Energy and Climate Conference on the topic of "How to Market your Business as Green". Mr. Loeb specializes in helping companies and municipalities develop corporate sustainability strategies to take advantage of the potential revenue streams generated by commercializing their reductions, known as emission credits. He was a member of the Palm Beach County Green Task Force's governmental sub-committee, and also serves on the following boards: the School Choice Fund, Broward County Crime Commission and formerly the Florida Co-Chair for Rudy Giuliani's Presidential Campaign. In 2009, The South Florida Business Journal recognized Mr. Loeb as one of the top 40 business and community leaders under 40.

Mr. Loeb holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Finance from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Heike Lueger

Chief Environmental Scientist, PhD


Dr. Heike Lueger is Carbon Solutions America's Chief Environmental Scientist. Dr. Lueger has experience with carbon and energy project development, conducting detailed feasibility analysis studies, managing environmental market assets and all aspects of carbon footprinting. A major focus of her work includes methodology development of new carbon offset projects including baseline modeling related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, landfill operations, and anaerobic digesters. Dr. Lueger is frequently invited to conferences as an expert speaker on carbon credit generation. Dr. Lueger currently serves on several expert panels including The Climate Registry and the Word Resources Institute. Dr. Lueger is a highly trained environmental scientist with over twelve years' experience providing technical support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), local municipalities and corporations. Dr. Lueger is an excellent relationship builder with proven record of strong client relation, business development and negotiation abilities and she is highly skilled to establish key initiatives in a cross-functional team with all levels of stakeholders.

Dr. Lueger holds a M.S. degree in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of Plymouth in the UK, and a Ph.D. from the Christian Albrecht University in Germany.

Matt Zirkelbach

Vice President, Leed AP


At CSA, Mr. Zirkelbach assumes various responsibilities that include technical and administrative management for existing CSA projects. He also is responsible for maintaining day to day business operations, conducting business development for new public and private sector clients, and marketing. Prior to his work with CSA, Mr. Zirkelbach worked with geotechnical and civil engineering firms where he managed technical studies such as Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Due Diligence Reports for coastal and land development projects. Mr. Zirkelbach has academic teaching experience at the college level and has coordinated research projects for forestry and agricultural research in central Quintana Roo, Mexico

Mr. Zirkelbach holds a M.Sc. degree in Natural Resources Management & Environmental Policy from Florida International University and a B.A. degree in Environmental Science from Stetson University.

Jonathan Brewer

Regional Scientist, Leed AP


Mr. Brewer is an Environmental Analyst at CSA. In this capacity he functions as a technical analyst for three major areas; carbon footprinting, carbon credit management, and, sustainability consulting. Mr. Brewer has in-depth knowledge of common carbon footprinting methodologies as well as algorithm development techniques. Mr. Brewer is also accomplished in energy efficiency strategies and reduction measures. At CSA, he develops internal strategies for various carbon credit projects, ranging from landfills and wastewater treatment to forestry and wetlands. Specializing in tool development, Mr. Brewer created numerous tools for assessing carbon credit projects as well as carbon footprinting, energy efficiency, and general financial indicators such as the Blended ROI (BROI) tool for comparing dissimilar projects on an even financial footing.


Mr. Brewer holds a B.A. in Physics from Boston University.

Tommaso Fattovich

Regional Business Development Manager


Mr. Fattovich serves as CSA's Business Development Manager. He is responsible for strategic marketing and business development. In particular, Mr. Fattovich tracks developments in renewable energy, landfill gas and natural gas markets, as well as the rules and regulations governing gas and power off-take. He helps the team respond to RFPs and submit project development proposals which include landfill gas (LFG) capture and flare, as well as LFG beneficial use projects (power, medium/ high btu gas) at municipal and privately owned landfills. Mr. Fattovich also interfaces with client relationships while cultivating relationships with engineering companies, municipalities, and within industry trade associations. Additionally, he is experienced in the trading and brokerage of carbon credits. His sales process and organizational skills help CSA to provide a high level of customer service. Mr. Fattovich speaks Italian and Spanish. He has a Master of Science in international business from Florida Atlantic University as well as a BA in communications from Florida Atlantic University.
